"2023 CAREER Awareness Day" — "CARE is RIGHT"

The "2023 CAREER Awareness Day" event was successfully organized by BOKSS on May 19th and 20th at the Hong Kong Science Park. On May 19th, our organization hosted the "CARE is RIGHT Conference" which focused on the rights and support of carers. The conference provided an opportunity for caregivers to identify themselves, gain respect, and receive protection for their rights and interests. The conference was conducted in a hybrid format, with a participation count exceeding 500.

The conference was inaugurated with a welcome message from Rev. Dave Kwok and Siu Nam, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service.

Following that, the Under Secretary for Labor and Welfare, Mr. Ho Kai Ming, JP, delivered the opening remarks. We have invited esteemed individuals in the field of caregiving to serve as keynote speakers, including Prof. Lou, Vivian W.Q., Director of The University of Hong Kong Sau Po Centre on Aging; Ms. C. Grace Whiting, J.D., Executive Director of The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (U.S.); and Dr. Andrea Budnick, Researcher at the Institute of Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science (Germany). Also, we have invited legal professionals, professors, members of the Legislative Council, CEOs of NGOs, and experienced carers to engage in a comprehensive dialogue regarding policy, innovative services, and the challenges carers face in Hong Kong.

"CARER Awareness Day" aims to enhance public awareness regarding carers, establish a network of individuals, and build an effective support network to foster a caregiver-friendly community.
